Hope of the Poor

Oh! Poverty, why have you made
My home your dwelling place,
Father's hard work is reduced to nothing,
Mother tried her best but she had
To stop to rest.

Father's words of encouragement
Contain
All food nutrition that we feed on,
Where there is life there is hope
That has been mother's popular
Saying.

Emptiness whispers across our plates
Hunger lumbers around our bowels
And some shake their heads left to right
Mocking at our lack
But much are the eyes that look
Less are the ones that see
For we are the custodians of the
World's riches,
What treasure could be better than this,
Love, peace, contentment and happiness
And that is what we have
With so much to spear.
