When Upon the Evening Couch I Sat
- June 10, 2017

When upon the evening couch I sat to ponder awhile
I imagine the trajectory of our frail lives
Then I see an eagle with clipped wings
Falling from the windy clouds
A garden watered with the rivers of red blood
A nation bathing in the flood of their own tears
The last words upon many dying lips
Is of woe and sorrow
There are hearts that may never know happiness
And lips that have forgotten how to smile
The blazing sun cannot quench that darkness in the hearts of men
I can only wonder for how long
will love forsake mankind
